As a former part of Stedin, Joulz is a partner in new energy. Think sustainable energy sources, such as wind, water, heat and sun. They share knowledge, technology, manpower and advice with its customers. This enables them to realize their customers' energy ambitions. In addition, they are certified meter readers and give customers insight into their energy consumption. Joulz is an established name in the energy world and has years of experience in the field of complex medium and high voltage.

Almost 10 years ago, Dick Horseling was appointed Senior Installation Responsible HS/LS at Joulz. He knew immediately that a maintenance management system was needed to get things, which were his responsibility, in order. He almost immediately came across the Q3 maintenance management system and started a conversation with Johan Maas, director of Q3 Concept. From this conversation, it quickly became clear that Q3 could fulfill his needs. From then on, the first module was introduced at Joulz. Over the years, Joulz's customer base grew larger and larger. As a result, more departments were added, and the needs for using the Q3 system grew. In order to implement the system as well as possible according to the needs, Dick Horseling worked a lot with Q3. Since Joulz has grown a lot, a lot of work has been done in the past year to adjust the system accordingly.

Tool for part of maintenance and management

Initially, the Q3 maintenance management system was purchased to centrally manage existing asset data and documents. This became an asset maintenance and management system for about 400 customers. In private homes, power is provided from a district, in contrast, large enterprises often have their own transformers for their power supplies. Joulz does the engineering, installation, maintenance and management of these transformers. For this, it is important to have a system that can recur maintenance concepts for several years in a cycle. The Q3 system was able to fulfill this requirement.

More intensive use due to growth

In 2018, customer base growth took off. This is partly due to the fact that network operators are no longer allowed to carry out commercial activities. These customers have been transferred to Joulz. In total, the customer base has grown to 3,500 customers with approximately 4,000 installations. This has caused more intensive use of the Q3 system. "The system has in the meantime proven its great value and in a short period of time has become an important business tool of Joulz," indicates Horseling.

Greatest added value

Performing maintenance and management takes place under various safety standards. Such as the NEN3840 for high voltage and NEN3140 for low voltage. The work of the mechanics is carried out on the basis of digital work plans in Q3. Linked to these is a digitized switchgear plan. These are available to the mechanics via tablets. Compliance with safety standards is mandatory, otherwise the mechanics are not allowed to work. These work and switch plans are linked to knowledge levels and are also included in Q3. This has been specifically customized for Joulz, but is fully integrated into the system. Horseling has had great input into the interpretation of this customization. Now when work orders are generated from the system, automatic work and shift plans are immediately linked to them with checklists.

Future

There are still plenty of modules in the Q3 system for Joulz to use. "Right now we are working on the full setup of our warehouse," says Horseling. "That is still in the building phase at the moment." It is planned to include the management of this inventory in the Q3 system under the warehouse management module. "In addition to the current modules used by Joulz, there are still ideas to expand it to include risk analysis and boosting asset values to manage depreciation," Horseling indicates.
